SOCAN Foundation will strive to expand an environment where Canadian music and its creation are encouraged, and to ensure the public has an enhanced understanding of the value of music.



Executive Director

Charlie Wall-Andrews (MBA, MA, BA, CCIP) is a leader committed to continuous professional development. She completed the Association of Fundraising Professional’s inaugural Diversity and Inclusion Fellowship in Philanthropy program, and is a graduate of the Banff Centre’s Cultural Leadership program. She completed her Master of Business Administration (MBA) at Ivey Business School, Master of Arts (MA) at York University, and Bachelor of Arts (BA) at Laurentian University. Commended for exceptional work, Charlie has been the recipient of many awards, including: the Top 30 Under 30 award from Corporate Knights, the Vital People award from the Toronto Foundation, the Alumni Leadership Award from her alma mater, and the Social Science Award from the Edmond de Rothschild Foundations. In 2019, she was appointed as a Legacy Fellow by the Ariane de Rothschild Fellowship Program. Charlie sits on the Board of Directors of WorkInCulture and the TELUS Community Investment Board, and is the inaugural Vice-Chair of Music Canada’s Advisory Council. Previously, she has been a board member of Choral Canada, Laurentian University, Independent Living, and other not-for-profit organizations.


Administrator of Programs

As a graduate in communications studies whose Master’s thesis was on the practices of vinyl, Julien’s passion for music led him to explore every corner of the industry. Whether it’s through his academic research, his work for various cultural and musical media outlets or his stint working for a record label, Julien has honed his professional skills and developed a wide network of contacts. Now active as SOCAN Foundation’s grant program’s manager, this role allows Julien to fully exploit his communication, interpersonal and marketing skills to simplify the granting process, promote music and its creators and implement the organization’s strategic vision.


Program & Development Lead

Holly has joined the SOCAN Foundation team as Program & Development Coordinator to introduce and enhance programming available to music creators across Canada. A freelance grant writer since 2016 and a professional grant writer since 2018, Holly served as the funding coordinator at Valeo Arts Management, working to nurture a diverse roster of Canadian talent, including A Tribe Called Red, Haviah Mighty, Jean-Michel Blais, and Jeremy Dutcher. Holly’s passion and expertise lies in helping artists develop sustainable careers as creators. Getting her start in the music industry by interning at Arts & Crafts Records, she has held positions at Bell Media, CBC, and Apple Music.


Operational Assistant

Dixie Ota has extensive experience with administrative responsibilities. She joined Socan Foundation in 2019 working as an Operational Assistant. In this position, she works closely with the Foundation staff supporting diverse projects, scheduling, correspondence, and note taking at meetings. Dixie believes, to be outstanding in administrative work, one needs to be organized, proficient with computer knowledge, and possess positive communication skills. Her motto is “Never do to others what you would not like them to do to you.” – Confucius


Marketing & Communications Coordinator

Lana is a Toronto-based designer who holds a Bachelor of Design in Advertising from OCAD University. Her creative journey includes leading a content creation team, conceptualizing and animating digital campaigns, and contributing as a freelance graphic designer for various prominent brands and corporations. Currently, as the Marketing & Communications Coordinator, she showcases her expertise through social media content, branding, communications, and annual report design for the foundation.
